Profile Bed Frames
Most low
profile bed frames are frames that rise only inches from the
floor. Or, they are, simply, a “subdued style” and
design having less visual and/or physical impact in the
room. Usually, low profile bed frames are preferred
for smaller bedrooms or rooms with low ceilings. The
bed profile can be greatly affected by the mattress and box
springs, also.
A lot of
contemporary beds are made with low profile bed
frames. The clean angles and straight lines of many
contemporary designs are low profile. Most modern, low
profile beds do not have footboards and some do not have
headboards. Some are, basically, a painted box on a
low riser or short legs. Platform beds are sometimes
thought of as low profile beds. Almost all platform
beds use a mattress alone, without a box spring. This
provides a lower profile. (Low profile- platform,
isn’t that an oxymoron?) In some cases, a low
profile bed is necessary for medical/physical
problems. Other times, it is preferred due to low
ceilings and small rooms. For smaller areas, less is
best. Aside from the style and design of the bed
frame, mattress height (thickness), box springs, bed covers
(thickness, fabric, colors, patterns), and pillows (size,
fabric, colors, patterns) are other things to consider when
going low profile. The wood or metal finish can have
an influence, too. The color choice can be low
profile. Subtle, neutral colors will lower the
profile. Simple “tricks” can help to “open up” small
rooms and create a lighter, airy, more tranquil
atmosphere.
Authentic
low profile bed frames are the plain metal bedrail
frames. These bed frames sit one to three inches off
the floor. These low profile bed frames are available
in all sizes, most are adjustable, also. The larger
frames should have center support rails. Depending on
the support provided, a box spring is usually
necessary. They are often produced with wheels,
casters, or glides to facilitate moving the bed.
For whatever
reason, low profile bed frames can be researched on the
internet. Information on low profile beds and frames
can be accessed by searching Amazon, Google, and
Yahoo. Helpful suggestions and ideas can be found,
also. Everything that is needed to create a “low
profile” atmosphere in a small area or bedroom can be
discovered and conveniently purchased. With a little
research and shopping online, a cramped area or small
bedroom can be transformed into a relaxing, comforting
retreat.
